Abstract

The main purpose of this essay is to reflect on the problem of competency-based pedagogy and the issues that arise in it, and in turn how it is implicitly related to the notion of educational quality. To this end, we will consider, first of all, the notion of educational quality, in relation to its fundamental principles and characteristics. Second, we will point out and define competency-based pedagogy as a new educational trend in the 21st century. Finally, we will explain in a general way how this pedagogical approach is articulated and can be applied. In addition, we will determine some conclusions, which guide us to think that a quality policy requires a trend of education by competencies.
